Reflections Task

In this task, I will be going on location to produce images of reflections using digital capture. I intend to produce eye-catching, considered and technically correct imagery. The themes of reflections I need to consider are abstract, partial abstract, close-up, people, colour and selfie. Here is my contact prints:

Colour

I've selected this reflection as part of the colour theme because it's against a red background. This was taken near the New Look store window outside The Broadway and I quite liked how it's positioned. I filled the frame with this red sale banner that was up and got the main focus on the reflection of this man.

People

This is my people themed reflection. I chose this image here because I like how the man and the woman with the pram is reflected on the glass. Then you have this elderly man who appears out of nowhere just peaking through. I like it because it was good timing and having this man come out of nowhere which also isn't reflected is quite effective because it's playing with the existing reflection. It almost draws a line in between the reflection and the real side.

Partial Abstract

Here is an image that ties with partial abstract. I found this distorted puddle and thought of capturing a reflection on it. It was challenging trying to frame the shot so the reflection will fit in the puddle because there was too much of the bright blue sky. I was stood quite far off from the right position so I zoomed in and got a shot. I think it's my interpretation of partially abstract because you can't really notice what building it is. That is of course if you figured it's a building in the first place. It makes it abstract because it's a close up of the tiles and the reflection ain't so strong on the ground.

Close-up

This is a close-up reflection from the side of the road. I like this image because the bricks are surrounding the frame and you have this random small puddle with a strong reflection. As the water was dirty and muddy, it actually helps with a stronger reflection. The reflection in this example is the window of this old building. I like how the colours of the building is reflected and it blends with the road bricks.

Selfie

I've decided to add this as a selfie reflection. The reflection itself isn't so strong and you can barely see it. The reason I still chose it is because I like the wall design and standing in front of it distorted the reflection. There is definitely a chance to get a good reflection here but due to the time and day, there wasn't much sunlight or rain so the dry weather makes the reflection to be weak.

Abstract

Here is my abstract reflection. The reason I selected this image is because of the distinctive red colour that's reflecting on the floor. It's abstract because you can't really see the subject but it's still clear that it's a reflection. This was taken of dry floor tiles in dry weather conditions, therefore the light is just being reflected because it's quite a strong light. The red light is in fact the H&M sign if you haven't already guessed.

Extra

Finally, this is an additional image that I quite liked. It ties in with colour because it's quite colourful. The main reason why it makes a good reflection image is because of the light. I like how it's been composed in the centre and you have the lights leading into the image. These ceiling lights are strong and they're reflecting on the floor. It almost looks symmetrical and eye-catching.
