Task 2 - Glass Primary Research

In this task, I will be photographing digital images of glass on location, using the research as my inspiration. I will be trying to interpret the theme of glass in a broad sense. Here are my contact prints from my shoot:

For this shoot, I wanted to stay local with the location because I thought I'd explore what's around me and find my ways of interpreting the theme of glass. The shoot went well and I considered each of my images by using my inspirations from my research. I wanted to try get glass images of the textures that I've shown in my additional moodboard. Along with my first moodboard of the broaden glass interpretation. Here are some of my images:

This is one of my interpretation of glass. I think this is one of my favourite image from the shoot. The idea behind this image was to capture the paint over the glass. It was focusing on the texture and details of the paint strokes. I've captured this at a close red phone box which was vandalised. I like how you can see the phone out of focus in the back. The tones of this image is dark and works nicely for street photography. I like how the focus on the paint is very sharp. I took this close up so that the text is still uncovered and it's just focusing on the paint on the glass.

Here's an image that was focused on glass textures. I found a spot where there was a glass stand I can photograph through. The glass was all scratched up and I love the effects it gives the image. I focused the image at a point where it's not 100% on the texture, so it's midway for the background and the texture. In this way, the background is clear and you can also see the scratch lines. For example, if you look at the silver car, you can see how the light is all dotted because of the glass.

Similarly, this is another glass texture concept image. In this case, I've used deep depth of field to focus more on the glass textures. You can see how this differs with the previous image with the use of depth of field. You can see buildings behind the glass but you can't see it in focus at all. Beside the technical side to it, I like the rough effect this image emphasises on. I decided to tone up the contrast to give it some edge and it emphasises on the scratches. I like the blue tones to the image so it's restricted to colours.

This is a reflection image that I've shot. The reason why I've selected this is because I like how the reflection is distorted. You can see how it looks all warped on the glass. I also like how visible the reflection looks like it's a mirror. This was because of the sunny weather, and the sun reflecting in the right direction. I've cropped this in a square format because I was stood quite far from this window to frame the reflection in the frame shot.

This is a abstract image of the ceiling. I captured this whilst there was sunlight reflecting across it. I like the textures and the repetitive lines in the image. The ceiling was slightly transparent and there was this bumpy design on it. I like how it looks abstract because it's quite close up, so you can't really tell what it is from the first glance.
