Holiday Task

It's the Easter break and the time where I did my first shoot linking it to my genre. This shoot was more of an experimentation and thought I'll go around some derelict areas in Bradford and capture the scenery. For this shoot, I've used an ultra-wide lens at 10-20mm because it was the first time using new lens in this project and thought of exploring the benefits of it. I manage to get some wide angled shots which does allow a lot more in the frame. Here are my images:

In this shot, the lens allowed me to capture a lot more of the surroundings and I quite like the settings. The lens do look like they distort the shape of the building because it looks stretched but I think it was a good chance to do some experiments. On the ground, you can see the rubbish that is cluttered and the floor is even uneven with muddy cracks everywhere. I like the fact that the sky is not bright and blue, this grey dull sky gives this image more of an effect as it's an abandoned site.

Moving on, this is a shot of a neighbourhood somewhere in Bradford. I think the intentions of this shot is to show what living standards some parts of Bradford are and I wanted to capture this without staging it. I used the left side wall to draw you in the image and I also like the graffiti that is along it. You can see how much rubbish is dumped on the floor and the road is all uneven and unnatural. Along the houses, there are building fences which makes it look like a building site when in fact it's just a neighbourhood.

Here is a juxtaposition with these houses and this division in between. The image is taken on the side walls of the properties. On the left hand side, you have the old houses with broken bricks in poor condition. On the right hand side, you have a brand new built house with new bricks. I thought it was interesting how close they were and the state that the road was in between the houses.

I found this image interesting because of the old and new. We have here a brand new car and this was just standing out in this neighbourhood, against these old houses. So I thought of capturing this whilst I was wandering around.

I think this shoot gave me a slight feel to how candid photography would feel. Although I wasn't shooting people, when I was out and about with a SLR camera, I had people constantly looking over and wondering what I was doing. So I could only imagine it would feel like that in a tougher way when it comes down to people. Here are some more additional images that is similar to the images I've analysed:
