Accessories Task

In this task, I will be photographing fashion accessories using digital capture. The accessories I've decided to shoot is sunglasses and perfume because it's quite commonly advertised within magazines that I've looked at. While taking these images, I will be thinking about the lighting and backdrop. I will also consider photographing the sunglasses with the box and see how that would look. I'll be taking some close-up shots of my items but I think the main aim in my head is to use the white space as an effect in my image so it looks very professional. Here is my images:

Mini-Evaluation
*Linking with exposure meter task* In this photo-shoot, I was using the hand-held light meter and was using it with incident lighting. In the contact prints, you can see some shots where I was testing the light meter and you can see how if you stop in between third of a F/Stops you get half a picture because the shutter speed is fast. Therefore using the light meter and getting the correct reading, I managed to get great images of my accessories.

This is my favourite image from the shoot. I really love how I've composed this shot. I placed the sunglasses simply in the centre and captured all the space around the frame. I like the little details like the small shadows underneath the glasses. The aim of this photo was to capture it as straight as I could, like how we see it with our bare eyes. The only challenge I found whilst taking these images was controlling the reflection of the glasses. Because I was working in a small space, the reflection would always catch the edge of the table so I just had to compromise that. I like the background colour, which is naturally like this nude colour. The contrasts in the image isn't too overpowering and it all balances well. I think this image is simply good and would fit a magazine advertisement easily.

Here is another image taken from a different angle. I like how it looks like the glass frame is sitting with a shadow under it and the temple/arms is almost disappearing into the image. Because of the smooth exposure and the studio background bending, it makes it look this way like its disappearing. The reflection in this case is still catching the end of the table and you can also see through it this time, where you see the other arm.

This time, I decided to include the box and have that sitting straight. Then have the sunglasses at an angle so you can see the brand on the sides. I like this image because the reflection in the glasses ain't so bad in this one. There's some nice shadows under the box and glasses which give it some depth and the lighting is balanced all over. I also stuck to including the white space because I like how it looks being smaller in the centre.

I've selected this image because I like the shadows that was under the arms. I think the composition is well considered here because of the way the sunglasses is angled and the logo is in the centre. The reflection in this image is decent and you can see the gradient of colours on the reflection. I think so far, you can see how the sunglasses are matt black in this image compared to the other ones.

Here is a perfume shot I've selected. I like this image because of the consistent space in my images. I've decided to open the lid in this shot and place it near it. I think it just gives it more effect than just having a bottle. I've tried taking both styles which can be seen in my contacts. I think with this glass bottle, I was having the same reflection dilemma on the top of the perfume. It would catch the edge of the table whereas I would have liked it more if the only shadow there was of the lid reflecting onto the bottle, either way it's not too distinctive. I like how this perfume is a glossy bottle but the lid is matt, so there's also that comparison side by side.

Lastly, this shot was taken of both my sunglasses and perfume together. I thought I'd do this differently and shoot from a high angle. This way it emphasises on the scale making the perfume look small. Mainly, this angle would also hide any reflections that was on the sunglasses and you have this nice gradient colour on the frame. But if it was my preference, I prefer shooting directly across.
