In this task, I will produce a variety of different photographs of my hat. These images will be considered and I will be photographing the hat in various ways. I will try to have it worn by a model, take some shots on its own and use different lighting techniques. Here is my images for the hat shoot:
These images were taken of the hat on its own. I've used some window lighting and then used the little product studio to get individual shots of the hat. I decided to use a snapback (style of hat) because I think it's very current for streetwear and urban fashion within the youth. I will have the analysis for these images below.
These images are additional images that I took during my 2nd studio shoot for this hat task. For these images, I had my model wear the hat, but I also used different lighting to show a variety. I also got some creative shots of the hat being captured whilst in the air. Here is my images from both of these shoots:
Similarly to the accessories task, I took these images using the little studio set up. On this occasion, these images have a faded/grey background, whereas I was working with a warmer colour tone before because it was sunglasses I was shooting so I thought it suited the subject. The technique behind this was that I was trying to capture this in a minimalistic way and this was by composing the image this way and including all the space around. I like how these images have come out because there's not really any unnecessary shadows and the lighting is set up nicely to give this balanced background.
While being in the studio, I took a small series of images where the hat was thrown into the air, and I was capturing the image whilst it being in the air. I like this image in particular because you can see the movement of the hat and the shadow perfectly displays the hat. I think these images were fun to take and I thought it was a creative way of getting different images of the hat. I also quite like how the background looks very gradient and the shadow is lying on the brighter, lower side.
This is a photograph of my model wearing my hat. This was part of my urban/street fashion studio shoot and I think this fit perfectly with this hat style. I like this image because it looks very casual and effortless. I also like it because I've used a snoot and there's a shadow of my model in the background. Using the snoot has given it this dark and high contrast look which I think works well with street fashion. Using the studio lights, the shadow also indicates which direction the light source is coming from.
Here's a bonus image that I liked. Although it's not a hat, I thought this was a well captured image of a shoe in the air. I managed to capture the soles and I think it looks great with the shadow next to it. It reminds me of this random concept of 'walking on glass' because you can see the soles like it's walking in the image. Not sure if that made much sense, but I just thought it was good timing and it's a great photo.
